Review of MySims Party

MySims PartyBasically, what you're getting here is a collection of 40 minigames with some light customization tossed in. If this doesn't sound appealing to you, then you don't need to finish reading this review.

The way the game is set up is that you participate in "festivals", each with their own themes. More minigames get unlocked as you keep playing more festivals. If you win a festival, you get simoleons which can be used to customize your house buy new clothing for your sim, or purchase minigame cards which can be used to put your opponents at a disadvantage. For the most part, the festivals are fun, but one annoyance is that alot of the minigames get repeated plenty of times, so if there is one you dislike you will be thinking "Oh no, not that one again!". Also, there can be as many as 20 minigames in one festival, which can take a while to complete and therefore is kind of unrealistic as a portable game.

Some of the minigames can be too simple. For instance, one simply has you mashing a button as fast as you can, or some of them are just plain boring. Thankfully most aren't like that. I'd say I truly enjoyed the majority of them. Some of them have you doing things like tracing the outline of a piece of cloth with the stylus to cut it out. Another one has you polishing a crystal ball, and yet another has you digging for fossils. Basically, if you are a fan of party games you'll want to check this one out.

There are 3 different difficulty levels, so the game can be played by pretty much anybody who wants to give it a try.

The graphics are rather sub-par to be honest. It may just be me, but I noticed a drop in quality from the other mysims ds games. It isn't completely ugly, but it doesn't look like any effort went into them, which is something of a shame considering mysims games revolve around cuteness. The sound is a bit better, though the music can get repetitive.

I finished the game in around 6 hours, but you can always replay any of the minigames on different difficulty levels, or play festivals to earn more simoleons.

So, as I said before, if you enjoy party games/minigame collections, or if you enjoy the other Mysims games, you'll probably have fun with this one. Just don't expect any groundbreaking material here.
