Review of Fallen Earth

I bought the game on Steam so have had it for about a week.I will say, I wasn't expecting very much from this game.The appeal here is of course going to be for those who enjoyed Fallout or any other post-apocalyptic movie or book.To say that it is a rip off of Fallout though is doing the developers a huge injustice.This is one of the most original MMOs I have played.Crafting is very important aspect of the game - every single item in the game can be crafted down to your horse, motorcycle and car.Factions are also a very important element, you win or lose faction points based on your quests - not all quests are related to factions but many are.

Down to the gameplay.The game is more action oriented than most where you click and wait to kill.Characters can use their weapons in first person or traditional third person viewThe tutorial sequence could be better, at first I was pretty confused by the controls and it took me a lot longer than just a play through the tutorial to figure them out.If you can sit through learning the controls for an hour or two though you will definitely begin to enjoy this game.

Other reviewers mention the performance of the game.I for one had no performance issues other than in the main city (my specs: AMD 720be, ATI 4870x2, 4GB DDR3 RAM).The main city was a lag problem on the first public weekend but the developers quickly fixedthe issues.Of course you might have some slow down in the main cities still because there are hundreds of players in but that is to be expected.The game rarely crashes too.I should also mentioned, right now I am playing from Europe.

Sure - this game won't be a WoW killer, it wasn't supposed to be.It doesn't have the budget or the marketing power but if you want a creative MMO that is a little bit different.This game is far from a WoW clone and you will enjoy it if you give it a chance.
